We start at Piazza di Spagna, location of the famous Spanish Steps, with its boat fountain sculpted by Bernini’s father and the Via Condotti , home to famous Italian fashion labels including Gucci, Prada and Fendi.
Then we visit the Trevi fountain, built around the waters of a still functioning ancient Roman aqueduct renovated by the Papacy . Don’t forget to bring a coin with you to toss over your shoulder into the fountain - it will ensure your return to Rome!!
The Pantheon is next, the best preserved of Roman temples and dedicated to all the Gods. It is one of the real attractions of Rome and the only place where you can really feel at the centre of the ancient world. No words can describe its perfection, just come and see!
We continue through charming streets to find ourselves in one of the busiest public squares of the city, Piazza Navona, to enjoy street performers and the work of local artists. Centrepiece of the Piazza is the recently restored Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini, located opposite the Church of St. Agnes in Agon by Borromini. You will learn all about the lives and rivalries of these two great artists from the 1600s.
A short walk takes us to the next piazza, Campo di Fiori. Once a place for public executions, today it hosts an open market during the day and exciting Roman nightlife for locals and tourists alike when the sun sets.
Our last stop will be Largo Argentina which hosts the remains of four Republican Roman temples, as well as Pompey's Theatre. However, you will be surprised to find that nowadays the area is an official cat sanctuary!
This tour will take you through the ancient and modern city to see why Rome is called “Caput Mundi”, the Capital of the World!
